What is EMAS?
EMAS, the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, is a voluntary EU initiative designed to improve companies' environmental performance. EMAS is controlled by EU Regulation 761/2042. A copy of this document can be downloaded from the European Union website.
The Scheme is backed by some of the Governments of EU member states. Organizations that participate are recognized as having contributed to environmental degradation.

Registration
Once your environmental statement has been verified, you will then be able to register with the EMAS National Competent Body. This is the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) in the UK.
