Health & Safety OHSAS 18001

Route to Registration

There are 8 steps to achieving registration to OHSAS 18001 with BSI:

STEP 1: Initial Inquiry
We will help you find the service that best suits your needs and send you a wide range of supporting literature.

STEP 2: Quotation Provided
After assessing your needs we will give you a detailed proposal for delivery of assessment and registration to OHSAS 18001.

STEP 3: Application Submitted
Once you have received your quotation, you should submit a formal application to BSI.

STEP 4: Assessment Team Appointed
Your principal contact with BSI throughout the registration process and beyond, will have the knowledge concerning the nature of your business and will offer support whilst you develop your systems.

STEP 5: Introductory Visit
Your allocated assessment team perform a gap analysis of the documented OHS system and plans the certification audit with you.

At this stage, you can also have an optional pre-assessment audit undertaken to review your existing health & safety systems and to establish your readiness for assessment.

STEP 6: 2 Phased Assessment

Phase 1
The first phase of your certification audit assessment deals with hazard identification, risk assessment, setting of objectives, policies and management programmes.

Phase 2
The second phase is concerned with the assessment of the implementation of the control measures and the monitoring and review of performance.

The two phases of assessment can be completed together in one audit as long as a separate introductory visit has taken place.

STEP 7: Certification
On successful completion, a certificate of registration is issued.

STEP 8: Continual Assessment
You will submit a plan, for correcting any non-conformity, to your Client Manager and a further assessment will be arranged if appropriate.
